Anne Gable Allaire

Before moving to Kennebunk/Kennebunkport, ME. in 1979, Anne Gable Allaire received her BFA in painting and design at Drake University and the University of Nebraska.  Anne then worked as a commercial interior designer for an architectural firm in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN and a design firm in the Detroit, MI. She has always loved painting and drawing and was introduced to the pastel medium at the age of twelve.  As her own children grew older she focused on a career in Fine Art.  In 1997/98 Anne was diagnosed with a rare disease (amyloidosis).  Treatment consisted of a Heart transplant and a stem cell transplant. While waiting for her new heart, Anne painted in her hospital room and found inspiration that brought her work to a new level. Today she is grateful for her good health and continues to produce her  work with inspired passion.

Anne paints full time primarily in pastel.  She was designated as a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America in 2002 and was named a Master Pastelist by PSA in 2006.  Anne is also a Signature member of the Pastel Painters of Maine and a juried member of the Art Guild of the Kennebunks.  She has also conducted workshops and painting demonstrations in the pastel medium.  Anne has been invited to be a juror in local art exhibitions and is a mentor for the MFA program at Heartwood College of Art.  Anne’s paintings have received numerous national awards. Her work has been exhibited in a PSA Exhibition at the Butler Institute of Art in Youngstown, OH and has appeared in a “Pastel 100” issue of the Pastel Journal.  Anne’s work is represented locally by the Mast Cove Galleries in Kennebunkport, ME.  Her paintings may also be seen in her studio by appointment or at: www.agafineart.com
